What Do Statues Mean for the Black Lives Matter Movement?
Statues have played quite a significant role in the blacklies matter movement and in the protest that wehave seen across the past few years. Why are they so significant? And er, what does bringin these statues to the ground mean for the country's relationship with its colonial history? Because they're part of our city scape. They serve as landmarks. When you walk around amongst them, they're looking down on us. What happens to statues at the moment is just a continuation of their history. Toppling statues, changing statues, putting up statues, is not a new thing. It's just a continuationof history. But more knowledge and more discussion on this is wonderful.
