Ptolemy's Legacy in Athens
Ptolemy wanted to make alexandria the cultural capital of the hellenistic world. This meant attracting people synonymous with greek culture, philosophers and poets. Demetrius was an intellectual educated in aristotle's school known as the lyceum. He ruled athens for a short time before being forced into exile.
