gerard states that those looking to peter as an individual are wrong to do so. They must look beyond peter for the causes of him denying christ. No one is immune from the contagion if they have succumbed to scandal. Pilot understood this when he attempted to substitute jesus for a barabbas, understanding that the crowd could not be pass fed without a victim. I would suffice toof appease their multiple scandals at that point because everything's very persiive to remember, everything's extremely personal at this point.
