The triumvers knew that brutus and cassius were out there somewhere, but they didn't know where. Despite controlling all the lands of the western empire, the triumphant had virtually no present on the seas a fact that would come back to haunt them time and again. But they managed to get across before a republican naval block ad could be firmly established. A hundred and 50 ships filled the adriatic, cutting them off from their supply line in italy. All brutus and Cassius had to do was repel whatever assault the triumpirists attempted and then wait for them to starve.
