Most movies I won't even say most but a lot of movies traditional movies and honestly the ones I recommend you try writing at first unless you have a good reason for it is to try to put us in the POV of the character so imagine it if we didn't know it was out there. That's that's kind of a simple example of superior position. So when Elliot's out there looking for ET, we know it's ET out there. We've seen the movie from his point of view. It reminds you of the lack of reality it makes things less scary in a horror movie.
