Is Asherah a Deity?
A handful of inscriptions from the biblical period have a line in them that can be translated, quote, Yahweh and his Asherah. The term Asherah refers to either the goddess or the cultic object associated with the goddess. There's actually a third way you can translate this: It's an alternative form of the divine name AsherahBecause of the way the word is actually spelled in these inscriptions.
