Strength Training and Performance Benefits for Runners

Common myths around strength and conditioning that you may be able to dispel. The majority of evidence suggests that it will help so I think that needs to be the main message. We tend to see something which is termed an interference effect when we combine aerobic types of training and strength training as part of the same training program. There's always going to be a little bit of a danger that we're going to put on muscle mass following resistance training. So runners probably need to be more careful with that type of trained population because they've got a higher percentage of fast-twitch muscle fibers.
