The Use of a Data Catalog for Data Discovery

A data catalog is useful within an organization for discovery purposes, especially when you're implementing some version of data mesh. A lot of companies I've seen use the enterprise data catalog as that front door. They use it for their Google search when they're looking for something. So yes, I think a data catalog does help. But ultimately, you still need a semantic layer to query that data.
