The Controversy in Action in COVID
The idea that future existential crises will produce ever more sense of humanity as a single unified actor is hard to square with what we've already seen. So I think that we got a dry run of this in COVID, where like when humanity is faced with a shared threat, we might not revert immediately to kind of a doggy dog world. In fact, we didn't at all, but we did immediately go very local. We reduced down to more mutual aid collectives at the level of the neighborhood,. The town, sometimes the state, sometimes the region, at best the nation.
