Farzad: In the mid 90s, when he was doing his clinical training in internal medicine, he started to question what he was learning and what he was not learning. He joined the New York City Health Department and said, oh, public health surveillance, can we use a computer for that? Right? And one of my first startups was a big effort to drive teen smoking from 7% to 7%. That saved more lives than anything else we could have possibly done - Farzad says.
