CHAPTER

The Effects of Strength Body Composition on Muscle Growth

The idea that if you are specifically training for one repetition maximum strength and seeing your squat and deadlift go up, that will indefinitely get your lower back stronger does not seem to be entirely true. It may be more of a case where you're getting better at the actual test rather than your overall structure becoming stronger and stronger and stronger. And we see that as well with power lifters and muscle growth specifically after a certain point. So after you've been power lifting for a specific amount of time, you may see your strength go up but you're not gaining pounds and pounds of muscle as the years go by.
