The Practice of Swearing by God's Name

There's developed this practice where, well if I can't use God's name, I'll use things that are kind of associated with God and that'll still accomplish the end goal. But in fact, by just trying to evade and use these like loophole things, you're actually still drawing on God's reputation. And so here's what Jesus does. He wades into this labyrinth of debate and discussion about like, you know, it happened the way I said it happened. Well at least I didn't swear by the gold in the temple. That's a different thing. You blind man, which is greater, the gift or the altar that makes the gift sacred? Therefore anyone who sw
