Solo Scriptura

Lutheran theologian Martin Kemenitz listed eight different definitions of the word tradition. The first seven, he said, are not contrary to solo scriptura. Trent appeals to various statements in Scripture and in the Church Fathers about tradition. But Jesus presupposed that the people of God were capable of discerning the word of God apart from an infallible teaching office.
