The Field Trial of a New Way to Repell Aphids From Wheat

Scientists in Hertfordshire have been trialing a new way to repel aphids from wheat. But the results of the trial finally came in last week, and it didn't work. This could be due to the fact that the plants are producing the alarm pheromone constantly. In native aphids, when they are attacked by a predator, they give off the alarm pharnosine in first release. So perhaps making the plants mimic the aphid behaviour more closely would solve that problem.
