Introduction

This week was a not great week for nominees to the Federal Aviation Administration. Philip Washington, who had been the Biden Administration's nominee to lead the FAA, has not had a smooth confirmation process at all. It took a very long time for him to come up for a vote, and as they were almost set to vote on it, that didn't happen. They announced another continuance of that, and then Washington withdrew as the nominee tolead the FAA.
