The Importance of Consent for Patients With Cirrhosis
A patient with cirrhosis is admitted to the ICU and her blood pressure drops. The team orders a massive transfusion, but she vomits coffee grounds as well as some reddish looking blood. Doctor: "I tend to err on the side of endoscopy" when I suspect someone could have varicial bleeding.
