The Brutality of the Texas Prison System
An institution called the Osborne Association on Prisons in the U.S. declared the Texas Prison System the worst in the nation. Philip says one of the most brutal people involved with East Ham was a man named Lee Simmons. The guards had trained their horses to knock prisoners over and stand on their backs if you made any infraction at all. Some inmates are given the power to rule over the dorms at night.
