What Makes a Melody So Memorable?

Ashley burgoyne is a computational musicologist at the university of amsterdam whoas analyzed thousands of people's music habits to review which songs are the catchiest and what features they may have in common. Within melodies, we found indeed four specific characteristics of melodies that seem to be responsible for long term musical memory. The first one of those is repetition. People recognize them more quickly than a more built up, rich, exciting texture with an orchestra and other melodies going on. And what's an example of a simple, a simple texture? Sia.
