The Dow Jones Industrial Average Is the Oldest Stock Index
The dow jones, while it is the oldest and none that we have data that goes back the longest on it does have its critics. Rather than using the price of a single share, the sn 500 weighs the index by how big the company is. But what's remarkable is that these three indexes, while they do differ on the technical level, their prices have largely moved in lock step with each since each one was created.
