There's a great work of the late second century, early third century. It's by Marcus Manusius Felix and it's a little, almost autobiographical novel. He had been a pagan and he had persecuted Christians to the death. And they decided that since there was a holiday weekend coming up, they were going to go to Ostea near Rome. The pagan blows a kiss to an idol; another Christian tells them "friends don't let friends worship idols"
