The High Point of My Presidency
The Queen's visit to the Republic was a high point in terms of building bridges, undoubtedly. She and I had pretty much the same kind of religious sensibilities. And we both believe very firmly in the power of life. We were actually in a golden moment where we felt that history was moving us in a different direction. There hadn't been a hint that the United Kingdom would be remotely considering leaving the European Union - which for me is the greatest adventure ever undertaken by humankind"
