Are Stories Powerful?

i would like to arm every human being in the world with an understanding of how story works. If people understand how stories work, it's not that theye will be less powerful. It's that they will understand when some one is trying to exert story based influence over them. And manipulate them in a way that isn't to their best interest. Stories are frighteningly, terrifyingly powerful. They have had incredible destructive, counter productive effects on the world. That's not going to change until a vast majority of the population of the world understand how stories working.
