Fred's Story of Jean's Death

It wasn't until 1981 that Jean's drowning was investigated as a homicide by the Santa Barbara detectives who were looking into Verna and Doug's drownings at Bird Rock. At Fred's trial for the murders, Stan Rodin, the DA, was blocked from introducing testimony about Jean until the penalty phase. So while the jury was considering whether Fred should be sentenced to death, Rodin put on a mini trial for Jean. This time Fred didn't take the stand, but he'd certainly told his Jean's story before. He'd long been in the habit of button-holing people and recounting the events of October 15th, 1976.
