The Problem With Friendship in Our Current Society
The single person, even more than people who are in a marriage, needs those fallbacks. And not just peer group, doesn't it? I mean, you need the equivalents of grandparents, older, older people who can help and come and take part in the childcare. It's rare for people who are not blood relatives to have made such open-ended, long-lasting, meaningful commitments. There is something distinctive there that even evangelical church needs to grasp onto.
