There's a framing device, Michael Rossington, to this story. Letters from a man who's got himself locked in ice in the North Pole. This is Mary Shelley's language isn't it? That's coming out of here. The camera is extraordinary. But it's also the idea of scientific responsibility. It's like nuclear fission. You can't unlearn what you've actually discovered. So therefore you have to apply it responsibly. I think we as readers have some way of understanding how Victor has come to be the person that he is.
