The World's Sadness in a Subway
"She's wearing the world's sadness in a subway, listening to the melancholy music of the accordion," says author. "I'm amazed at all the complicated ways that your hands are supposed to be doing many different things as well as allowing this beautiful instrument to breathe." The poem itself is reminiscent of the shape and the space in between the two stanzas is the line in the melody; there's a stanza break of that pleated lung.
