The Consumer Product Safety Commission said it was going to look at gas stoves as a public health risk and consider regulation around the gas stove. The chair of the CPSC, clarifying today, quote, I am not looking to ban gas stoves and the CPSC has no proceeding to do so. Methane is a greenhouse gas that's far more potent than carbon dioxide, especially over the short run. Nitrogen dioxide is a concern because we know that it does have adverse effects on respiratory tract, respiratory illnesses.
