The Importance of Assurance in the Church
1 John 3, 19 to 20 is an interesting one because it calls us to take an active role in our assurance. I preached a sermon on Acts 15 recently about whether Gentiles coming into the church had to obey various Jewish laws like circumcision. What's amazing about Acts 15 is the harsh language used for it. Peter says it's placing a yoke on the neck of the disciples that they cannot bear. Later James expresses concern that this will trouble the incoming Gentiles.
