The Impact of Council Tax in the UK

As a unitary council, Badfordshire looks after very similar things to Manchester City. And we are seeing substantial pressures in all of the areas - especially adults and children. But I think we've run it well over the last few years, we've managed to put some funding aside. A 1% rise in a council tax doesn't raise the same amount of money in every single place. For a city like Manchester, 1% raises 2 million pounds. It's based on 1990 values. Most of our properties are bans A to C. So our ability of the last 12 years to raise more income from council tax has been felt differently to areas of the country where the majority of their properties
