The Meaning of Identity and Struggle in Relation to Contrasts
Mau explains that opposites exclude each other by their very nature, but that they also rely on each other in order to have meaning in the first place. Mau says that this relationship defines every process in existence and that simpler processes often contained a single opposition within them. More complex ones can contain countless oppositions within them. The individual aspect of contradictions cannot exist on their own. They only exist in relation to their opposites. This is the meaning of identity.
