Clement's War With the Confederacy
LZ Granderson: In 1863, former Congressman Clement went off on the Lincoln administration. He was convicted of treason and sentenced to banishment into the Confederacy. LZ: The president made the best of a terrible situation by commuting his sentence. LZ says he's ultimately impressed with Lincoln's balance of liberty and security amid civil war.
