Confidential transactions is an idea that's been out for, well, it's early 2015, I think. The idea was first proposed by Greg Maxwell. And people have got very excited about it for good reason. But in order to blind the amounts, you actually have the same problems coin join does. You're going to have to add a lot of random noise and this pattern repeats in many other situations.
