Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh
Evelyn Waugh, the Catholic author of this novel, wants us to see that as the church. The first attracts Charles there on the right. What first attracts him is the beauty of Brideshead. Then in the course of the novel, he begins to feel the moral demand that's coming from living in that house. And then at the very end of the story, he comes to appreciate the truth that's embodied within the house.
