There are lots of things that encourage people to use herbal medicine. Part of it is culture familiarity, advice from family and friends. People who for whatever reason don't like taking modern medicine may have suffered side effects or just don't like pills. A lot of patients who choose to take herbal medicine don't tell their doctor about it because there's that sort of mistrust as we were talking about earlier. There've been no studies really asking what does the average white British patient think about taking herbal medicine for diabetes? No one's actually done that. So we don't know.
