The Chilling Effect of the Bail Fund on the COPS-CITY Project
The COPS-CITY activists are out of jail, but not allowed to post on social media as part of their bail conditions. They have been talking to the press and national radio stations since they were released last week. It's unclear if prosecutors really do think that the Solidarity Fund is some sort of financial entity that is underpinning the movement or if they are going after the bail fund aspect of it itself. The NAACP Legal Defense Fund has called for a DOJ investigation into in particular these charges of money laundering and charity fraud as repressive tactics.
