Block busters were advantageous to these multiplexes because in the two screen theatres, you had real to real projection systems. Platter projection is really bad for prints, constantly stitching them together and taking them apart. A film doesn't want to be laid horizontally. There'rs just o more risks involved when you don't have that real to real system. And one of the things that happens during this time is that projection quality gets a lot worse. So the multiplex becomes known for having, you kno, just really damaged prints.
