The Role of Human Creativity in Modernity

The question of what does it mean to be in the image and likeness of God, sort of, but not to be a God, is at the root of a lot of Christian discourse. I think that somewhere around the Renaissance say we get this sort of explicit vital exploration of this question. What is the role of human creativity, human freedom, human genius in a wider theology of the world and creation?
