The Ottoman Campaign - A Brief History

The siege of constantinople took place in April 14 53. Mehmed would consider penetration of these walls as key to ultimate victory. The ottoman camp was on the outskirts of the theodocian walls, originally constructed during the reign of the emperor theodosius the second and refortified regularly. Auban arrived with a cannon capable of propelling cannon balls over half a mile in distance. Some sources tell us that the cannon suffered the same fate as many the cannons from this era, as metal fatigue caused the entire device to back fire and explode,. killing orban and his trusty team of operators.
