i believe that john and paul loved each other fiercely and equally. I don't think either ever lost interest in the other. Their relationship remained one of the defining factors in both their lives, for their whole lives. When the beetles narrative is actually looked at through this lens, giving paul equal billing and equal agency and john's insecurities are also taken into account, the result is pretty radical.
