Bringing History Up to Date in a Production
I was reading a review of, i think it might have bee the last play that you worked on before coverd. They described this bitter sweet love storye set in the napoleonic wars. But they said, warrell's costumes go from pretty pastals to dowdy cheques and then erupting into full un sweet wrapper. And later on, they thought about a production that refuses to be constrained by period costumes. For me, it's really important that costume reflects not only the time it was written in, but also why it's relevant to a modern audience. So i always try and merge those kind of realities, because i just feel that it's about making it
