Beholding Is the Means of Becoming
The drinking is an analogy of worship. Beholding is the means of becoming. Whether you want to or not, you're going to become like what you're obsessed with. We use the story of Jacob stripping the rods and the reeds to make them striped and speckled in a water trough so that when the livestock drank while staring at the reeds, they produced striped and spottled offspring.
