The Importance of Ancient Olive Trees in the Galilee Region

In 2020, Hearts Magazine published an article about Israelis growing ancient olive trees in the Galilee region in northern Israel. How did such ancient trees fall into the hands of the Neuwe-Mare family who settled in Tisipori only 20 years ago? The answer to this question is that Mujavd as a pori sits on land belonging to the destroyed and depopulated Palestinian village of Safuriyah. According to Palestine remembered, a website dedicated to preserving the memory of more than 400 Palestinian villages which were destroyed during the Nekba, Safuriyah was a relatively large community with over 5,000 residents in 1948.
