In 1954, this first one they made was abysmal by today's standards. It was like a 1% efficiency. By the time they made their press release, okay, who knows what they really did and didn't talk about? They had achieved a 6% efficient solar saw. So late 50s saw them putting it in space,. You've got satellites and deep space probes. And so when you hear about like the Sputnik and Voyager, these things had solar photovoltaics on them.
