Scottish Nationalism

This is an immensely important development. But it also reveals a contradiction at the heart of Scottish nationalism. Nationalism is a dirty word, seen as a very harsh, exclusive movement. It's all about vindicating an ethnos by excluding certain people who are not properly part of that. Scotland was and is defined in nationalist terms as more inclusive than the other. And so that self-definition has propelled Scottish nationalism toward endorsement of these gender policies.
