The vestal virgin claudia prevented her father being dragged from his chariot by a hostile tribune of the plebs. The incident dates to about a hundred and forty three b c this case, what we learn is that a vestal clearly doesn't ever forget about her family connections. A vestal is both political as well as a ritual presence in the city.
