Introduction

The Shavuch volcano in Russia on the Kamchatka Peninsula is impacting flights. The ash cloud hasn't quite reached all the flight levels yet, but it's starting to impact a lot of flights. 99% of flights that are not able to transit Russian airspace now can't do that. And so they're having to move their flights to make a technical stop elsewhere and then fly very south or just fly over it for the time being.
