The Innocence of Our Thinkers
In Achaomo of Zarathostra, Nietzsche says that the innocence of our thinkers is somehow touching and evokes reverence. And so to kind of shake us out of this, he says in all seriousness, quote, the faith and immediate certainties is a moral naivete that reflects honor on us philosophers. But after all, we should not be merely moral men. Apart from morality, this faith is a stupidity that reflects little honor on us. In bourgeois life, every present suspicion may be considered a sign of bad character, and hence belong among things imprudent.
