The western portrayal of Mao is one of a brutal dictator who murdered millions of innocent people In what ways is this portrayal false and what ideological purpose does it serve in the west? I don't think we'll be fair to the argument though. The communist party of china has addressed a lot of missteps and mistakes that it took. There were policy errors or policy miss doubts, but there were natural disasters as well.
