Paladin got picked up by a traditional publisher who at the time let's just say I wasn't necessarily impressed with some of their business practice and we'll leave it there. Back then there was no, I knew I wanted to do something on my own. The term urban fantasy didn't exist back then. So stuff like the vintage code and even your books were very difficult to market back then because there was nowhere to really put it. It needed to be indistinguishable from a judiciously published book when it was on the bookshelf. That was the one thing that I wanted.
