The Politics of School Board Meetings
Father Robert McTig: People who show up to school board meetings are not necessarily representative of the typical parent in the district. What we're seeing is sort of fetishizing of race as the most important thing about a student or a teacher, he says. And that's where you end up with these really troubling and stories like teachers being asked to stand on one side of the room for different races than students they were teaching. "I do think it's fair to say that there have been some really big changes that have taken place since the pandemic," Father McTig says.
